bus

BUS? A BUS???
The wheels on the bus (don't) go round and round...
You wake up on a bus.
It's a very nice bus, though. Luxurious, even! The seats are comfy and can be used as beds, with pajamas also available for you to change into. It's stocked with enough food and drink to last a week or so, along with a bathroom that also has a shower and free toiletries to use. The downside, however, is that apparently you have to share—as you're not alone when you awaken.
It seems like you're not where you should be, either. The bus comes equipped with TV screens, but rather than any movie or show, it's reality TV in the most literal sense. You might even recognize a few faces over there in the terminal, but either way, you can watch the participants go about their day. You're as equally confused as they are, after all, even if miles (?) separate you.
For that matter, that's pretty much all you can do. You're stuck on this bus. You can't access where the driver's controls would be, and there's no driver to begin with; in fact, the bus isn't even moving. The doors are shut, and any attempt to break the windows will send you bouncing back. Opening the shutters will treat you to the enticing sight of... outside airport scenery. You're on airport grounds somewhere, but you can't tell anything other than that. If you do some digging around, though, one compartment on the bus contains a random assortment of card games and board games for you to entertain yourselves with.
Better get cozy, because you might be here for a while.
RUNDOWN
  • This will be your one mingle post until next Friday.
  • You do not have any personal belongings on you. Unlike the other players, you also don't have a phone. Sad.
  • The W0 weekly effect, once revealed, will apply to you as well.
  • Your characters are able to see anything that takes place on the public mingles, including network posts, via the bus TV screens. You may also handwave them being able to see the initial notification that the players all received on their phones.
  • We will have a small, pseudo-mini-event for you on W0 Wednesday at 12pm PST/3pm EST.

A statue... [ he squints. ] Oh. That's... interesting.

I'm glad we don't have one of those, quite frankly.

It would take up a lot of space that we already don't have much of.

[ imagine trying to shuffle around a giant statue in the middle of the night while trying to get to the bathroom. awful. ]

This ever happened to you before?

[ imagining this is so funny. help. ]

I wish I could say no. Though we were on an infected cargo ship flying through space.

You?

Vacation, actually. In a place called Key Nueve.

[ his expression sours. ]

I wouldn't recommend you visit.

A vacation where you all die one by one. Yeah, sounds real thrilling.

[ frowns. ]

I'll keep that in mind, thank you.

It certainly would make a good thriller film, don't you think?

[ lol. lmao. anyway! ]

I'm Wriothesley, by the way.

[ i will get these introductions out of the way or so help me god. ]

Yeah, actually, it would. Part of me feels like I've seen one like it before. But it may have been a summer camp instead of a resort.

[ lol. yeah. anyway!! ]

Keith. Nice to meet you Wriothesley.

[ they can do the bro arm/handshake ]

[ nice. ]

Pleasure to meet you, Keith. What did you do before this, if you don't mind me asking?

[ when you don't have registration papers to read and have to learn about people the old-fashioned way.... ]

[ forced to socialize... lol ]

Spent a couple months traveling to different planets in the galaxy, helping out on each one, slowly learning that our ship was infected. [ he frowns and then sighs. ] Not too far off from what I'm used to, but was somehow a hundred times worse. Something about getting snatched by a shadowy tentacle and dragged back onto the ship at night, it really changes a guy.

[ gazes out the window for a second. anyways. ] And yourself?

[ when you expect like "soldier" or "brick layer" and instead get "guy traveling out in space". okay!! he blinks, surprised despite himself. ]

That sounds like quite the time. Anything I could say certainly pales in comparison. [ especially because what he's about to say is: ] I run a production facility that specializes in clockwork parts. Definitely nothing nearly as fancy.

[ which is why they should definitely not talk about him and definitely talk about keith!! ]

What's it like out there in space?
bladeward: (062)

[personal profile] bladeward 2025-06-02 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[ keith just now realizing wrio was asking about real life, not mg... rip.

he tilts his head to the side.
] A production facility huh? Not what I expected you to say, based on how you're dressed. But you definitely look like you'd be in charge.

[ now he's even more curious!! what do you mean clockwork! ]

Quiet, for the most part. You meet all kinds of people and other creatures. Then there's the constant threats from certain factions. [ gazes in alien invasions. ]

[personal profile] frostfist 2025-06-02 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he can't even begin to imagine any of that. despite the danger though, it sounds pretty cool. ]

Sounds like there's danger no matter how far away from home you are. Guess that's just another constant of life.

[ not enough to stop him from wanting to go out into space though, just once. but he does smile a bit at the comment about his outfit, looking down. ]

What'd you think I did?
bladeward: (138)

[personal profile] bladeward 2025-06-03 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
You're right about that. Somethings remain the same, regardless of the reality.

[ weighs hands. gestures at his hands. ]

For starters, you look like a fighter, maybe a boxer? Interesting side gig to have from the clockwork. You also don't strike me as the corporate type.

[personal profile] frostfist 2025-06-03 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ that definitely gets a laugh out of him. ]

Because of how I dress, or how I act?
bladeward: (007)

[personal profile] bladeward 2025-06-03 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
[ nods ]

Both.

Well, I find that managing is a little easier when you treat your workers the way you'd want to be treated, instead of treating them as disposable tools.

[ aka: equally and cordially. ]
