BUS? A BUS???

The wheels on the bus (don't) go round and round...

You wake up on a bus.

It's a very nice bus, though. Luxurious, even! The seats are comfy and can be used as beds, with pajamas also available for you to change into. It's stocked with enough food and drink to last a week or so, along with a bathroom that also has a shower and free toiletries to use. The downside, however, is that apparently you have to share—as you're not alone when you awaken.

It seems like you're not where you should be, either. The bus comes equipped with TV screens, but rather than any movie or show, it's reality TV in the most literal sense. You might even recognize a few faces over there in the terminal, but either way, you can watch the participants go about their day. You're as equally confused as they are, after all, even if miles (?) separate you.

For that matter, that's pretty much all you can do. You're stuck on this bus. You can't access where the driver's controls would be, and there's no driver to begin with; in fact, the bus isn't even moving. The doors are shut, and any attempt to break the windows will send you bouncing back. Opening the shutters will treat you to the enticing sight of... outside airport scenery. You're on airport grounds somewhere, but you can't tell anything other than that. If you do some digging around, though, one compartment on the bus contains a random assortment of card games and board games for you to entertain yourselves with.

Better get cozy, because you might be here for a while.

[ so it's (checks notes) day four of being on this cramped bus. surely morale is starting to dip. dressed in a set of fun pajamas, wriothesley makes his (very short) way to the gathered crew on the bus, patting them comfortingly on the shoulder.

sometimes you are not particularly touchy-feely but the spirit (affection week) compels you. ]

How're you holding up so far? Need anything? A hot cup of tea, a hug?

[ My god, it is day four. Aventurine is sprawled on some of the bus seats, one leg dangling off the edge, and tongue poking out from the side of his mouth as he holds a crossword puzzle book to his face. He is not dressed in the bus-assigned pajamas because they are not to his tastes, but he has taken off his jacket to just be in this while he puzzles.

At Wriothesley's check up, he looks up from the crossword puzzle he'd been working on. ]

I need a four letter word for 'talkative bird.'

[ my god, his tits are really just out there. unfortunately this is also where i have to google what animals exist in genshin. wriothesley thinks a moment, then offers up a tentative: ]

Crow?

[ OKAY. IT'S CALLED FASHION, SWEATY.

Anyway, Aventurine will jot down 'crow' even though it is not the answer. He has not been getting enough sleep and it is starting to show, and he looks up from the book a second later. ]

Nice pajamas.

[ it's not his fault he's genetically predisposed towards sweating? anyway, is there space on that seat, wriothesley is wiggling his way in. the Physical Contact™, you see. ]

Thanks. There's no laundry unit, so I figured it'd be better to change than walk around in the same clothes for days.

[ we are not going to think about how bad the smell probably is even with all of them showering regularly. ]

You didn't want a pair?

[ Yes, he can wiggle in so that Aventurine can use his lap as a pillow while he continues trying at this stupid crossword puzzle. ]

I'll change into them at my most desperate.

but you know what, contact is contact, so after a moment of mild surprise over the ease with which aventurine casually slides on there, wriothesley just...leans back and accepts it. ]

Well, I'm not being forced to bark every time I want to talk to someone or turn into a goose, so I'd say it's not bad, actually.

[ hopefully that has not just jinxed him. ]

[ More scribbling at this crossword puzzle that is not crosswording right... God, he wants to (sei voice) seppuku so bad right now. ]

Wow, only two weeks and you got your fill of strange happenings.

[ Like trying to cram everything in all at once, he supposes. ]

Funny enough, this is the same effect I went through the very first week on the other side of my previous round.

Really? Maybe it's to encourage us to form relationships faster, if this really is a team-based competition.

[ the Compulsions are still there. he picks a stray strand of hair off aventurine's forehead and tucks it to one side. ]

[ not sure how they haven't gone stir crazy yet. keith is wearing some cozy pj pants and a plain black shirt. the lion pants are so goofy, but appropriate.

he's probably just watching the living be chaotic, but looks away when wrio makes his rounds. mentally shakes hands in not being affectionate, but also... ]

I should've known those things would extend to us here too...[ sighs. it's fine. it's fine. ] Guess it could be worse.

You probably give good hugs...

[ wriothesley gives a sympathetic hum of agreement. ]

It certainly didn't stop when I ended up on the other side when I was in Key Nueve. If anything, it only seemed to get worse.

[ which is stupid, if you think about it. haven't they all suffered enough just by dying?? but he does laugh a little at the mumbled comment, though at himself and not keith. ]

I actually haven't hugged anyone in a long time, if you can believe it.

keith no realizing he said that out loud, even if it was mumbled. he just pretends that didn't happen. ]

Is that so. Well I'm sure that will change by the end of the week. We'll all start hugging each other eventually.

[ internally screaming at himself for saying more words. never mind this is the worse effect. ]

No? Yes? I don't know... this effect is hard. It's not like I'm adverse to hugs, but ugh.

[ he's standing now and holds a hand out. maybe a hug now would be fine? a treat perhaps. ]

Nothing wrong with that. You go at whatever pace you feel comfortable with.

[sei's pajamas are so stupid but are also loose and comfortable enough to not make it super obvious that she's a girl (and also the clothes she was wearing from home included cloth bindings for her chest so she looks even flatter)

she has used the shower to wash her regular clothes and has left them up to dry though, and leans into the touch when wrio pats her shoulder. she's checking up on their supplies to make sure they aren't going to run out before the end of the week.]

I'm feeling a little stir-crazy, but I think I can manage. Some tea would be nice though, thank you... Would you like to join me for a cup, Wriothesley-san?

Nice pajamas. [ can't believe they're all here living their best lives except aventurine. someone spritz him with water. ] And sure, I'd be happy to. I'm used to taking a cup every day in the afternoon anyway.

[ time for him to rummage through their supplies for tea bags and water....at least those won't be in danger of running out. hopefully. ]

Any preference on what kind of tea?

Thank you! It's nothing like the clothing from home, but... it does remind me of home just a little bit.

[that moment when your troop is called wolves but like in a derogatory way but you miss your comrades so bad that you'll take literally anything that reminds you of them.]

I prefer matcha, if they have it. Any other kind of green tea if they don't, though. Unless you have something in particular you would recommend?

[ there's probably some green tea in here, even if it's dubious quality. this ain't emirates they're flying riding. the click of the electric kettle fills the air, along with the gentle clinks of mugs being set on the tiny countertop. ]

If you like black tea I have plenty of recommendations, though I haven't had as much green tea. Harder to get access to it.

In that case, black tea is fine! I can't say I've had it before, but I do like trying new things...

[they do not have a lot of black tea where she's from.]

Is it a regional difference, then? Green tea leaves don't grow in Fontaine, but black tea leaves do?

I think it has more to do with the processing, actually. Though there's probably some regional difference to the leaves as well.

[ the kettle goes off and he pours an adequate amount of both tea bag-filled cups. ]

Either way, they do taste pretty different. And like you said, it's always worth trying new things.

Is there a particular way you prefer to take your tea, Wriothesley-san?
